One of the fascinating aspects of the pandemic has been the migration of individuals. This story is often told about city dwellers moving out to the suburbs.
Some cities have seen big changes in population but one really stands out in the narrative - San Francisco:
The narrative here is largely driven by tech workers who left for new lives outside of the city when work from home became a thing. So many people left that the population got set back a whole decade!
It will be a while before we have a sense of what the rebound will look like. But a rebound is pretty much inevitable eventually. After all, the previous drops had recoveries and population grows over time. Then, we will get a new narrative about a city on its way back to overcrowding and expensive housing and rental costs!
