The CBOE Volatility Index (which everyone has much more fun calling the “fear index”) is well off its peak from the beginning of the pandemic but has settled at a consistent level that remains elevated from pre-COVID times:

In the political space, the change in administration occurred yesterday without catastrophe and markets seemed to like that:

Of particular note was Netflix (which is part of the communication sector) jumping almost 17% in one day and making everyone who doesn’t own the stock very sad and likely to drown their sorrow eating ice cream and binge watching…Netflix.
