On May 9th, the current downturn became the 15th worst S&P 500 correction going back to 1929.
Now, it’s the 11th worst:
It’s important to remember that, overall, this is just one of the 24 corrections that have occurred in the last 90 years - so these kinds of downturns do happen:
However, only ten of those events prior to yesterday's close had the infamy of falling more than -20%. Now, it’s eleven.
We also don’t know if we are at the bottom yet. While it’s only a little bit further down to move up one more spot on the list to the top ten, it’s a good bit further before we would rank up again:
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the rest of this market downturn has in store for us…
