Waiting on Data
CPI, PPI, Retail Sales, Consumer Confidence
Got some big data releases this week that will tell us a lot about where the economy and markets are heading next. Today we have CPI, tomorrow PPI, Thursday retail sales, and Friday consumer confidence.
Markets are in a pretty interesting spot at the moment and I believe the potential is to the upside. That’s because, the data this week is unlikely to tell us anything surprisingly bad. They may miss estimates but it’s probably not going to be catastrophic.
And, if things aren't catastrophic then the market should move sideways at the worst. More time means more upward pressure from the market’s natural positive drift over time.
So, barring a big problem, I’m feeling increasingly optimistic about things!
Now, of course, the market will go and do something that will prove me and everyone else wrong : )
