Let’s check out Walmart today:
Walmart is kind of ordinary across the board. Not too many strong spots but nothing to glaringly weak either. In terms of market capitalization, it has been through a recent growth spurt:
But performance relative to the market as a whole has been poor:
With a plenty of misses in the past ten or so years than periods of outperformance:
Revenue growth has been steady but hardly explosive:
However, the price-to-sales ratio is hovering around a long-term low:
In terms of profit, things really fell off for a while, then returned, and fell again:
Because of that, price-to-earnings has also been choppy in the last few quarters:
And profitability has looked similar:
The balance sheet has been growing at a reasonable rate:
However, revenue growth has not been as fast:
And return on assets hasn’t looked great either:
Overall, these are pretty meh numbers and steady but boring trends. Walmart is a big huge company (no doubt about that), so it can be tough to grow at a fast clip. I personally don’t find much to get super excited about here based on its present situation.
