Over at the stand-alone Endless Metrics webpage, I’ve just added two new pages with six total charts! I’ve done a few of these page updates randomly recently but the pace of new content there has been, in my opinion, pretty slow.
In general, the stand alone webpage, which I launched about six months after this newsletter in June of last year, has not gotten a lot of attention from me. That’s about to change pretty drastically, as I have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to allow for much faster ramping of useful content.
My hope is that the main webpage can be a source where all of the metrics I talk about are available to see quickly and easily at any given time. Then, the newsletter is a lot of my random thoughts on things and where I pull in a lot of those charts to support broader ideas.
I’m doing this because I’ve always loved reading articles with interesting charts but have been frustrated because that content is static (i.e. I can’t go back to see those charts in real time as conditions change without me doing the legwork to create it myself). More and more, I’ve got the metrics and charts I talk about automated in the background, so I can scale the amount of analysis I can do and also free up time to provide commentary and thoughts around it. Best of all, you don’t have to wait around until I talk about those metrics to see what happens next - you can just go check them out yourself at any time!
I’ve also found a way to reduce the loading time of the charts on the stand alone site, as some of them are taking way too long to load and I will be redoing all of the pages to fix the speed. It’s never going to be instant, since there is a lot of data there, but at least you won’t have to check your watch or wonder if something is broken while the page loads.
Overall, I’m really excited about where things are and, even more so, where they are going. Hopefully the work I’ve been doing in the background continues to become more visible and the newsletter and website become even more useful going forward.
As for the new pages and metrics I just posted, you can check them out here:
