One Tracking Portfolio is Dominating
Hint: It's cryptocurrency
At the beginning of the year, I started five thematic portfolios with a thousand dollars invested in each to track cryptocurrency, bonds, metals, large-cap stocks, and a basket of random stocks. After about six weeks, here is where things stand:
Cryptocurrency is absolutely dominating the other portfolios. In fact, every single constituent of the wild stuff cryptocurrency portfolio has gone, well, absolutely wild:
As for what comes next, cryptocurrency is obviously pretty volatile stuff. Six months from now we could see a portfolio that is negative on the year! I know that sounds crazy but during the last cryptocurrency peak many coins that shot up ended up down 90% or more. I guess we will just have to wait to see what happens.
In other news, you may notice that the charts I included above are not in the style of my usual charts. That’s because, I’m trying something new where I build out some “live” charts that will update automatically and can be checked at any time. I added a new section below so you can see these charts whenever you want going forward. Hope you find it useful!
