Real GDP by State
Checking out the heavy hitters
A few days ago, I did couple posts on state-level unemployment and unemployment changes over the last year. To follow that up, we can check out another important metric - real GDP:
It’s clear at first glance that there are some states that produce much more in GDP than other states. Let’s look at the top ten:
What’s really wild is, if you look at the big states, some of which have trillions in output and then compare them to the states with the smallest output, you can quickly get a sense of the vast difference in economic activity amongst states:
In the next post we will look at the changes in economic activity since COVID hit to see the states most affected.
