I can’t believe it’s been nearly a month since my last COVID update. And, I really can't believe it’s almost been a year since my first post about COVID.
Here is where things stand in the US:
While it may appear like the numbers have slowed a bit, the positivity rate, which divides the number of cases by total tests, shows that this is likely an effect of less testing overall:
Given this metric, this means that the outbreak is in uncharted territory, as the first wave was mostly situated in the northeast, while the current outbreak is across the entire country.
Globally, things are also worse than ever:
Let’s hope that the next time I do a COVID update that there is some good news to be had in the trend data.
